Job Description:
CASE MANAGER- Part-time, independent contractors/consultants with BA/BSW/LMSW or related field with social work experience needed in small family forensic social work practice. Based near downtown Brooklyn, N.Y., we serve clients (respondent or petitioner parents/guardians and/or subject children) involved in child welfare cases (neglect, abuse, adoption, foster care, visitation, custody, delinquency, PINS, TPR, etc.), mostly in Kings County Family Court.

We seek applicants with prior experience in child welfare – preventive, protective, foster care, etc. as well as excellent psycho-social assessment skills in family dynamics; permanency planning; physical/mental health, behavioral and psychological issues; leaning disabilities; developmental delays; Early Intervention; Special Education programming and IEP’s, etc. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.

CASE MANAGERS:
1 - must be comfortable making home and field visits to clients in diverse, multi-cultural communities (primarily in Brooklyn), making familiarity with community services a plus.
2- assess services needed; refer, link and assist to negotiate systems, community–based programs, entitlements and resources (i.e., domestic violence, parenting skills, anger management, housing, mental health, medical, educational, etc.).
3- attend court hearings; agency case conferences, school meetings;consult with attorneys; escort clients to appointments as needed, etc.
4- follow-up to monitor attendance, compliance and completion of mandated services and submit timely summaries.
5- must be reliable self-starters, able to work independently and accomplish tasks with minimal supervision. Excellent interviewing, communication and writing skills are necessary.

Position pays $15 per hour (no employee benefits). Positions open only to applicants with flexible schedules permitting daytime/evening/weekend availability of about 20 hours a week (and not currently employed elsewhere full time). (Current employees of NYC Children’s Services or child welfare contracted agencies not eligible.)
