Specific Education, Certification and Skill Requirements (if applicable): LMSW and SIFI certification required. Excellent public speaking, computer literacy, communication and writing skills required. The ideal candidate will be a LCSW with a minimum of 5 years experience working with individuals with drug/alcohol and psychiatric problems. Supervisory and criminal justice experience preferred. This position requires a creative, aggressive self-starter who can both supervise a diverse workforce and get things done in a high-paced environment.
Job Description: The Midtown Community Court, an innovative criminal justice project, seeks a Clinical Director to oversee the Court’s social services department. The Midtown Community Court is a public-private partnership and a project of the Fund for the City of New York, and its mission is to respond constructively to A quality of life @ crime and to work to prevent further crime before it occurs. It accomplishes these goals by sentencing persons arrested for misdemeanors in Times Square, Chelsea and Clinton to a range of community service and social service sentences, including drug treatment.
Reporting to the Project Director/Deputy Director, the Clinical Director is responsible for supervising the delivery and overall management of the Court’s social service programs including mandated groups for defendants, its street outreach project, and its counseling services.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Supervising staff of professionals including social workers, case managers and graduate level interns.
Working with judge and project staff to develop both new policies and procedures and new social service programs.
Develop standards to measure the Court’s on-going achievements and operations.
Managing the development, tracking and monitoring of compliance of sanctioned programs, in Criminal Court.
Providing individual and group counseling and overseeing psycho-social assessments and treatment recommendations for criminal defendants, walk-in clients and other court populations.
Ensuring thorough and accurate recording and reporting on progress and compliance of mandated clients to court partners (judge, defense, prosecutors).
Developing, assessing and maintaining referral and service resources with both public and private service providers that are off-site and on-site.
Providing and supervising case management of job seekers in the Court's job training programs.
Promoting, developing and maintaining relationships with not-for-profit agencies, community residents, businesses, police and criminal justice agencies and broker new relationships for the court.
Strategizing with senior management team to develop and implement new initiatives.
Administering the ongoing evaluation of court operations and social services and institute quality control programs to gauge program efficacy.
Designing and implementing new social service, workforce development, financial literacy, and micro-enterprise development programming for ex-offenders, youth, immigrants, the mentally ill, and all other relevant client populations.
