This position is located within the Department of Health, Addiction Prevention and Recovery Administration (APRA), Office of the Deputy Assistant for Treatment. The incumbent serves as a Policy Advisor and is responsible for researching, recommending and supporting the implementation of clinical practice standards and policies for APRA operations and the District of Columbia system of alcohol and drug abuse services. Researches and recommends clinical practice policies and standards for the provision of addiction treatment services. Reviews and updates clinical practice policies and standards for provision of substance abuse treatment services. Develops reports and provides data analysis on publicly-supported substance abuse treatment services. Provides for the security of information, personnel, and physical Agency assets under his\her control or influence. Ensures the security and privacy of personal information, as required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and other laws and regulations. Incumbent evaluates ongoing and proposed activities, policies, and procedures for potential exposure of the District government to liability or unnecessary costs and makes recommendations to the supervisor as to ways to mitigate such risks.
